Prevent Food Allergies in Kids in 5 Ways

There has been a buzz about the increasing number of food allergies in kids. But there has been no absolute determination for its cause. However, pediatricians all over the world began a survey to find out some effective ways of preventing food allergies in kids. In this survey, they compared the diets of kids with food allergies to the kids who don’t have food allergies and came up with some ways that would help in the prevention of food allergies in kids.
Read the complete article to know about the helpful findings and 5 classic tips to prevent allergies in kids.
1.       Keep the baby on liquid diet or at least 17 weeks
Researchers suggest not introducing solid food to your baby for 17 weeks. They found that babies who ate solid foods before 17 weeks were more prone to food allergies than those who don’t.  Researchers say that 17 weeks is a crucial time for the development of the baby.
2.       Continue to breastfeed the baby
In continuation to the above mentioned point, researchers suggest continuing breast feeding the baby even when you introduce solid food in the baby’s diet. Researchers found that breast milk regulates the functions of the immune system. This means that breast milk has a protective effect against allergies in kids.
3.       Don’t include packaged food in the baby’s diet
A different study showed that babies whose diet consisted of more fruits, vegetables, and fewer packaged or processed food were less prone to develop food allergies in them. Therefore, they don’t suggest including packaged food in the baby’s diet.

4.       Feed the baby new food at the interval of every 4 days
Introduce your baby to a new food every 4 days and carefully watch out for allergy symptoms like rashes, unexplained congestion, hives, swelling, itching, vomiting or difficulty in breathing. There is a better chance of coping up with the allergy if diagnosed at an early stage. Some experts suggest the following measures:-
–          Avoid cow’s milk till the baby is 1 year old
–          Avoid eggs until 2 years of age, and
–          Avoid nuts and seafood until the baby is of 3 years
Experts also suggest not overly dramatizing the food sensitivity in babies and recommending consultation with t pediatrician before eliminating the food from the baby’s diet.
5.       Watch out for peanut oil in the baby’s lotion and food
The study suggested that most of the babies were allergic to peanuts. To avoid the development of allergy through peanuts, pediatricians recommend checking the labels of diapers, balms, moisturizers, and ingredients in food for peanuts.
The cause of food allergy is unknown but the doctors, experts, pediatricians, and researchers are trying to dig deep into the condition.
